Robert Drysdale was born in Provo Utah on January 1 1981. Not discovering his passion to train martial arts until the late 90s, Drysdale’s Brazilian heritage would set his course for his now elite Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle. Having an American father and Brazilian Mother, from the age of 6 Drysdale grew up in Brazil.
Coming back to the United States as a young man, moving to Las Vegas Nevada to attend college he began his training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Lewis Perderneiras. In 2002 Drysdale returned to Brazil to dedicate himself to training and competing in the sport. Initially training with Maromba Club alongside Professor Paulo Streckert, receiving his Brown Belt.
In 2004 Drysdale was training with one of the most elite BJJ clubs in the world, Brasa Club (Brasa Clube de Jiu Jitsu) in Sao Paulo and achieved his BJJ Black Belt. With the wind in his sails, the following year Drysdale went on to multiple national and world titles including the IBJJF World Championship. Most notably at the ADCC Submission Fighting Championship 2007 in the Open Weight Division where he submitted Marcelo Garcia.
Not only an incredible Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner but also a top fighting coach. Teaching in countless countries around the world, from the United Kingdom to Australia. Drysdale was introduced on Countdown to UFC 101 as the BJJ coach of former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Forrest Griffin.
Robert Drysdale skillset did not stop with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Grappling, he competed in the toughest promotion of Mixed Martial Arts, the UFC.
Late 2013 Robert Drysdale and newly recruited Venum BJJ Team member Rodrigo Cavaca joined forced and formed a new Grappling Team – Zenith BJJ.
Robert Drysdale now works alongside former teammate Rodrigo Cavaca with Team Venum BJJ to deliver the best BJJ equipment for training and competition.
